WHO ARE YOU?

Hello! I'm Romantic, but you can call me Ro! (they/he)

I’m a teacher who got really into modding around 2022. I’m also someone with learning disabilities and social anxiety, so I empathized with a lot of people who wanted to start modding but felt discouraged by the inaccessibility of some information and guides, as well as some spaces that were less than friendly towards beginners. While I was no expert in modding myself, I decided I could at least teach the basics to those who have struggled trying to learn so they can make use of other existing material once they have a better grasp of the basics.

ABOUT MODDING 101

(Updated January 21st 2026)

Back in 2023 Modding 101 was originally going to be a small server for a dozen of people or so interested in taking live classes with me for a small fee. I already give classes online for a living so the idea seemed like a no-brainer for me. This was before I realized the huge amount of people who are interested in learning and who really needed help with different topics, some of which I didn’t know enough about.

Because of this, I opened the Discord to everyone for free and had some other modders join me in giving classes, while some of the people within the community started helping out folks in our forums just out of kindness. We created a really kind and cozy community to help each other learn.

As time went on, it became apparent to me that hosting all of our classes in discord wasn’t ideal, so I decided to make a website. It was set up by me with some participation from Prefects and folks subscribed to my kofi (like the characters and gposes used in the site). I also felt that we could improve our classes significantly, so I did a bunch of surveys to get feedback from our students to with the intent to remake some classes and make new ones by myself with the knowledge that I had acquired from those surveys.

In order to keep a consistent format and good organization, I was supposedly going to be the only one making the classes posted here, but this turned out to be a huge endeavor. Life got in the way so I had to drop everything at some point to focus on school and work. I don’t currently have the intention to keep making new guides or classes (I stopped paying my sub over a year ago), but I do want to keep this site up for as long as I am able. However, since I cannot afford to pay the current set up, I will be migrating the site to Neocities.

The migration will take some time since the site needs to be built from scratch. I had some really kind people from the community who are developers volunteer to help in their free time, so there is no estimate on how long it will take to do this. We are also hoping to add guides by other people that we consider to be really good for beginners in modding, but that will probably become a gradual thing to work on once the new site is ready.

In the meantime, if you are able to help with some of the costs for keeping the current site up through my kofi it would be appreciated. Anything that goes beyond the monthly squarespace sub ($15 USD) will go towards the developers as a thank you tips.
